FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q- Do you offer foam replacement?
A- When we are working on upholstery restoration we will replace foam where needed. We no longer offer replacement services outside of re-upholstery projects. For basic foam replacement for sofa cushions or foam sales, contact Foam Revolution (604-451-0321) or The Foam Shop (several locations).
Q- Do you work on automotive upholstery or marine?
A- Building custom furniture and furniture re-upholstery are our expertise. We have chosen to specialize in these areas and do not offer automotive or marine upholstery services.
Q- Do you offer upholstery repairs to ripped seams, popped buttons and replacement panels for cracked/peeling vinyl or leather?
A- We do not offer repair services. For minor tears and popped buttons try mobile companies like seat fix that may be able to assist. For leather repair try Spot On Upholstery Restorations (604-789-6965).
Peeling vinyl is currently an epidemic. Bi-cast vinyl and bonded leather products are still legally allowed to be sold as genuine leather. These pieces quickly breakdown with use. Unfortunately the reasonable price of the original sale is always far below what the cost to re-upholster properly turns out to be. If you have a peeling parson style barstool or sofa, chances are it will be more cost effective to simply buy new again. That being said, there are exceptions to the rule. If the furniture in question is of sentimental value or has a solid high end frame structure it may be worth inquiring over
Q- Can I just drop in to get a quote or to look at fabric?
A-The showroom is open by appointment only. We find that with time to prepare for your visit and careful consideration of your project and needs we can offer you better service and overall experience start to finish.
Q- Can I supply my own fabric?
A-We are not able to warranty our work unless we can supply the materials from our reputable suppliers so we prefer not to. In some cases it can’t be avoided so a 15% C.O.M fee (customers own material) is applied to our labour. For drapery a $15 cutting fee per yard is applied. A fair amount of time goes into checking fabric for flaws, working around damage to fabric etc. Our fees help us recover the time required to plot out and inspect prior to production.
Q- Do you offer wood refinishing?
A-Yes we do provide refinishing as part of our services. Let us know when acquiring a quote if you are looking to have the wood refinished. We have a professional refinisher as part of our team that can gild, french polish, and refinish any type of wood as well as lacquer paint any furniture in any colour.
Q- What are the beginning steps to acquiring a quote?
A-The quickest and easiest way to begin is to email us a photograph of your furniture or proposed custom project. Providing rough dimensions helps us work out the materials and fabric quantities required. We will respond within 24-48 hours with a preliminary quote. If uploading photos or sending them by email isn’t possible, don’t worry! Please give us a call we would be happy to arrange an appointment for you in the showroom to discuss.
Q- Is there a fee for an in home consultation?
A-We provide decorating services at your residence for custom drapery, blinds, shades and upholstery. Our consultations include personalized fabric selection and shade samples. The visit generally lasts about an hour with a follow up quote for the project within 24-48 hours.
For projects involving drapes and soft coverings a $90 flat rate for the consultation is requested. Our rate falls below average for decorating services and is in place to cover the many hours required to source fabrics, design drafts as well as quote preparation. For blinds and shades our time is complimentary.
