Mother Nature is a funny thing sometimes considering it’s just Wednesday and it feels like we’ve seen more rain than we saw all of last month due to the torrential rain this week started with. But at least it’s perfect weather to stay dry and cozy indoors and catch up on some reading. This creative collaboration with Julia McKeough from Project Ping is the perfect midweek pick me up so get comfortable and grab your cup of coffee or glass of wine.
This custom ottoman has a sentimental vintage twist to it, we recycled her dads old wool jackets which were cut up and turned into the gorgeous patchwork you see. The concept was original and creative, we could not wait to get started!
It was such a blast working through the fabric selection process for this custom piece. Inspiration was drawn from various patchwork designs and then things got messy with the design process in full swing.
Cue experimental playing to find the right sizes and shapes and then choosing the right colours best suited for the elements in her space, factoring in the carpet, sofa and woods in the room.
After a full day of working through the pattern testing out shapes, playing around with the position of patches and most importantly laughter and good times, the final design was coming together.
The end result was a stunning sentimental custom built ottoman and one of the most enjoyable design processes, making this a memory to cherish for years to come.
